Wenatchee among state’s worst for wood smoke pollution
WENATCHEE — We may think we live in one of the state’s most pristine areas, but when it comes to pollution from woodsmoke or diesel, Wenatchee is sixth worst in the Washington, a state Department of Ecology analysis shows. What’s more, it’s getting worse.

Where attention, intention merge
For a relatively lightly populated area that’s kind of out of the way, the Wenatchee Valley sure gets its share of attention, statewide, nationally and even internationally. In most cases, you say “great.” We love this area and letting others know about us and what’s going on here is a good thing.

Several NCW students win state art awards
OLYMPIA — More than a dozen North Central Washington art students won state awards at the 39th Annual Superintendent’s High School Art Show in Olympia May 18. Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn honored Nate Downey of Okanogan High School with the Superintendent’s Award for his ink and watercolor piece, “Monkey Business: Art of the Subordinate Hand.”
