PHOTOS: KENS 5 suffers through the Spartan Sprint
KENS 5's Bill Taylor and Joe Reinagel -- along with a team of four brave KENS 5 viewers -- conquered the Spartan Sprint in Burnet, Texas, on Sunday, May 20, 2012. It was no cake walk. Through barbed wire and nasty mud pits, the team left their blood, sweat and tears on the 5.2-mile obstacle course. Check out photos and headcam snapshots from the race.

KENS 5 team toughs it out to finish the Texas Spartan Race
The Spartan Race is a two-year-old Phenomenon, taking the world by storm for the first time. With more than 14,000 people registered, it took over Reville Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas on Sunday. Many wondered if the Texas Spartan is one of the meanest, toughest races to ever hit the Lone Star State. But, those that met the challenge say it's a life-changing experience.

New Area Code Planned For Central Texas
Central Texas is most likely getting a new area code. Right now Travis, Williamson, Hays, Burnet, Lampasas, Caldwell, Bastrop, Lee, Milam, Mills, Coryell, San Saba, Bell, Fayette, Guadalupe, Comal, Blanco, Llano and Burleson counties use 512. But if a Texas Public Utility Commission proposal goes through, new phone customers would either get 512 or 737. ...

Fatal crash on southbound Hwy 281
It is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash on the southbound side of State Highway 281 about five or six miles north of Burnet. The highway is closed for now.
