Despite the rain, thankful family and friends gathered in a parking lot on the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Fort Washington May 8 to welcome home Glenside resident Master Chief Steven Jancso from a 14-month tour in Afghanistan.

Glenside broker among six charged in loan-fraud case
Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia on Thursday announced that business-loan broker Matthew McManus of Glenside and his business partner, Andrew Bogdanoff, of Scottsdale, Ariz., were indicted on charges of fraud, conspiracy, and money-laundering, alleging that the pair “defrauded more than 800 victims out of more than $10 million,” federal authorities said. AT LARGE: Reliving some great dining experiences with my sister
My sister, Pat, and her husband, Charlie, moved from their longtime Oreland home and retired to a 55-and-over community in Shippensburg a few years ago, so we don’t see them as often as we once did. Upper Dublin police briefs: Week of April 26
Attempted theft … A man attempted to scam the Rite Aid, 1201 Bethlehem Pike, out of $100 April 23 by claiming at 11:37 a.m. that he had put five $20 bills into the Pennsylvania lottery machine, but it failed to dispense any tickets, police said. A pharmacy employee ran an audit on the machine and found the last cash put in the machine was a $5 bill at 10:10 a.m. that day, police said.
