New Jersey review finds NYPD Muslim surveillance is legal

TRENTON, N.J. — New York City police did not violate New Jersey laws when they conducted surveillance of Muslim businesses, mosques and student groups, Gov. Chris Christie's administration said Thursday following a three-month review, rejecting demands by Muslim leaders for a formal investigation and a clampdown on cross-border police operations.

Gun buyback nets nearly 300 weapons in Paterson

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — Another gun buyback program in northern New Jersey has produced another bumper crop of firearms. The Passaic County Sheriff's office says it spent more than $20,000 to buy 282 guns from Paterson residents during last week's event, which was staged at a city church.
