Mass. opens ARRA-funded transit facilities

Clipboard: Seven Mass. hospitals pledge transparency, apologies when error occur
Liz Kowalczyk writes in today’s Globe that seven Massachusetts hospitals, including two in Boston, are piloting a program aimed at resolving potential medical malpractice cases before they become lawsuits. The program, which would encourage doctors and nurses to disclose mistakes and apologize for them, is expected to curb costly litigation and improve relationship between providers and patients.

Fire, accident on same Greenfield road
Residents living on three floors of an elderly and disabled housing complex had to be evacuated because of a fire there Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, an unrelated accident on the same street has knocked out power and caused the roadway to be closed.

Sing a song about Irene
The Connecticut River Watershed Council is looking for members of the community to write songs about the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene. The songs will be performed in a concert to be held on August 28; the one-year anniversary of Irene’s arrival in western Mass.
