TUPELO – Former Tupelo Assistant Superintendent George Noflin has spent the past three weeks preparing to lead a school district in Louisiana. Since being named superintendent of the Bastrop, La.,-based Morehouse Parish Schools on April 12, Noflin has been busy.

Jay Wilson nominated for Army All-American Bowl
Bastrop wide receiver Jay Wilson is among 17 Louisiana seniors-to-be who have been nominated to play in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Televised by NBC, the 2013 version of the annual East-West game will be played on Jan. 5, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Governor’s wife has local ‘hands-on’ visit
Louisiana’s First Lady, Supriya Jindal, visited the Morehouse Magnet School Monday to bring the “School Surprise” program to the kindergarten classes. The “School Surprise” program, created by the Supriya Jindal Foundation for Louisiana’s Children, in partnership with AT&T, consist of hands-on educational tools that aid young students in math, reading and science.
