Tom Wilson: 3 local police officials gave their lives on duty
Three Galesburg police officials have lost their lives as a result of gunshot wounds while responding to crimes. In 1902 George H. Allen was gunned down in an alley adjacent to Boones Alley and in 1915 the Chief of Police C. Linn Mathews was fatally wounded in an incident on the south side of the Public Square.
