Air show won't fly over Peoria riverfront in June

Route 24, Route 29 will be diverted out of Downtown Peoria

U.S. Route 24 and Illinois Route 29 are about to be diverted away from Downtown Peoria as the city prepares for reconstruction on Washington Street from MacArthur Highway to near Interstate 74.   The City Council on Tuesday officially approved a jurisdictional transfer of Route 24 and accepted Washington Street as a city road.

East Peoria runner, Limestone sprinter tops in Mid-Illini

Emma Preston didn’t just win her two races at the Mid-Illini Conference girls track and field meet Thursday. She dominated. The East Peoria senior won the 800 meters, her signature event, in 2 minutes, 16 seconds to beat Isabella Kosier of Canton by 6½ seconds. She came back to win the 1600 in 5:12.23, a margin of victory of 9.68 seconds over Dunlap senior Leah Brooks.
