Baldwin attorneys stand to collect $1.39 million in BP settlement
BAY MINETTE, Alabama -- An $11.565 million settlement with BP for financial damages to Baldwin County will pay attorneys an estimated $1.397 million in fees with expenses continuing to add to the total until the deal is "consummated," officials said today.

Baldwin planning meeting with ADEM on arsenic findings at landfill
BAY MINETTE, Alabama -- Staff members said at the Baldwin County Commission meeting today that the most recent testing from the suspect well in March showed arsenic was present, as has happened in past spring testing. Modeling done this year showed a high level of iron oxide in the soil that can produce arsenic when exposed to high rainfall.

Baldwin County jury hands down murder conviction in 2010 Fairhope shooting
BAY MINETTE, Alabama -- After more than 3 hours of deliberation today, jurors returned a murder conviction for Fairhope's Benjamin Kirby Blackman, 27, in the 2010 shooting death of Frisco City resident Thomas “T.J.” Perkins, according to a press release from District Attorney Hallie Dixon.

Baldwin County authorities arrest 14 in drug sweep (Updated)
BAY MINETTE, Alabama -- A Baldwin County grand jury and investigation by the county's Drug Task Force resulted in the arrests of some 14 suspects including one man growing a crop of marijuana indoors in Elberta. Authorities were searching for three others in the drug sweep.
